果冻影院’s TGIT Shortlisted for Prestigious WhatUni? Student Choice Awards
果冻影院 is delighted that its Thank Goodness It鈥檚 Thursday (TGIT) project has been nominated at the WhatUni? Student Choice Award 2023. As one of only three Scottish universities to be nominated across all WhatUni? Award categories this year, we are proud to see TGIT receive recognition in this prestigious award scheme.听听
We would like to thank the great work of all the volunteers who bring TGIT to life, without whom this important event could not be possible. This includes academic and professional services staff of 果冻影院, and staff at our catering partner BaxterStorey.听
The WhatUni? Student Choice Awards 2023 are voted on by students. This year, over 35,000 students from across 240 Higher Education institutions in the UK submitted reviews.听听
The awards aim to empower students and their families to make informed choices by giving them feedback on universities from those who have recently graduated or are currently studying.听
This year's awards were themed around the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and 果冻影院鈥檚 own cost-of-living support scheme, TGIT, was shortlisted for their Submission Award category.听听
Starting at the end of last year, TGIT is a volunteer-led support initiative created to tackle the cost-of-living crisis by bringing students together for free meals, takeaway meal packs and social activities in a warm, supportive environment. Welcoming all students across 果冻影院, not just those in need of support, TGIT addresses spiralling food costs as well strengthening the university鈥檚 sense of community.听听
听Run by a dedicated group of volunteer staff, TGIT has quickly become a favourite among students across the university.听听
As well as offering free, hot meals, TGIT also gives students two-day meal packs to enjoy over the rest of the week. These meal packs come with detailed recipe cards to guide students on how best to use them.听
Initially a six-week pilot scheme, it has now been rolled out throughout the academic year.听听
